D.O.A. Tactical FAQ's
Q. What is the difference between Instruction and Training? A. Instruction (or in this case, receiving instruction) is learning through systematic presentation of ideas, skills and techniques. This process, as in our Instruction Blocks, is where we load the brain with the necessary data to carry out future tasks such as responding automatically to threats. Training is where the participant improves his skill and sets into motion what the brain has absorbed. Training is disciplined and goal oriented and the early stages need to be under an Instructor’s supervision to avoid bad technique.Q. Why do you talk about gross motor skills so much? A. Gross motor skills are what you will be left with in a high-stress panic situation. Fine motor skills such as deliberate sight aiming will abandon most people when their life is threatened. Unfortunately most shooting systems teach accuracy with fine motor skills to hit targets like bull’s eyes, bottles or plates. If this is your Defensive Training then you are training yourself to fail under pressure! D.O.A. Tactical’s systems utilize gross motor function, so your skill set remains deadly in defensive situations.Q. What is a stress fire situation? A. In public life a stress fire situation is an unexpected and often fatal encounter with violence. The victim typically has some option for response if good Instruction and Training have been acquired. Though it is almost impossible to know how one will react in such a circumstance, our Advanced Defensive shooters are encouraged to inquire about D.O.A. Tactical’s Stress Fire Advanced Pistol Block, which simulates some of these conditions.Q. Can I learn to defend myself with a firearm even if I’ve never shot one? A. YES! In fact some of our best shooters are those that come without any preconceived ideas of shooting or bad habits that can hold back progress.Q. What weapon or gear should I buy? A. Feel free to consult with one of our Instructors about your specific needs and we will make recommendations for appropriate purchases.Q. Can I still receive training even if I don’t have all the gear now? A. Yes. D.O.A. Tactical can provide all the weapons and gear necessary for participation in our Instruction and Training Blocks through direct sale or rental per use.Q. Can I participate if I don’t have my Concealed Firearms Permit? A. Of course. There is no need to wait. Owning, transporting and training with a firearm is completely legal for qualified citizens.Q. I am a woman who is beyond middle age. Can I learn to defend myself with a firearm? A. Of course. The weapon does not know your age or gender, but you can be sure your felonious attacker does! Be prepared! Our system is designed for EVERYONE!Q. Can I train with D.O.A. Tactical even if I am not Military or Law Enforcement? A. Yes. D.O.A. Tactical works extensively with Military and Law Enforcement, but our systems are designed for ANY skill level. The statistics overwhelmingly show that violent encounters occur against and amongst private citizens and are over in a matter of seconds. You will be alone or with other victims! Who would you like to rely upon during those few fatal moments... the officer who is still 12 minutes away or a well-armed and trained D.O.A. Tactical shooter standing next to you? For us the choice is easy. (NOTE: D.O.A. Tactical Instructors come from Military and LEO service and are dedicated supporters of the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday. It is simply an unfortunate reality that bad guys don’t go to work in the presence of public authority.)D.O.A. Tactical’s instructors offer over 30 years of advanced U.S.M.C./Marine Military experience to train just about anyone how to survive virtually any life-threatening situation. If you can identify the threat, you can stop it!
